The Mechanical Skills Program at Sunny Boys offers a comprehensive curriculum designed for hands-on learners who want to master the world of engines and assembly. Located in our specialised Sunshine Coast workshop, this program bridges the gap between interest and professional aptitude through immersive, tactile projects. Participants engage in deep-dive sessions focusing on the restoration and maintenance of motorbikes, cycles, and automotive engines. By dismantling and rebuilding machinery, students grasp the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering. This process does more than teach technical proficiency; it fosters a sense of accomplishment, enhances critical thinking, and builds the confidence required for independent living. Under the guidance of expert mentors, attendees learn to navigate a professional workshop environment. Training covers the expert use of pneumatic and hand tools, diagnostic testing, workshop organisation, and rigorous cleaning protocols. We place a high value on soft skills, ensuring that every participant improves their ability to work in a team, communicate effectively with peers, and manage their time responsibly. As a dedicated NDIS Registered Provider, Sunny Boys aligns this program with individual goals for School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) and vocational pathways. We provide the structured support necessary for individuals to transition into the workforce or further education while maintaining a focus on community involvement. Our commitment to Work Health and Safety (WHS) ensures a secure learning space. Every participant is taught to identify risks, wear proper safety equipment, and follow industry-standard procedures. This professional foundation ensures that every project—whether it is a simple bike repair or a complex engine rebuild—is completed with precision and care in an inclusive, supportive atmosphere.
